The skidding cone assortment is a great solution for pulling logs with a small tractor or a QUAD (ATV). As you know, there are no real anchor points on a QUAD. The pulling plate (PCA-1310) is the perfect solution since you can attach a rope, a choker or any tipe of slings. Of course, our skidding cone will allow the driver to look where he is going instead of wondering if the log will get jammed on an obstacle. I purchased a skidding cone this past fall. At first I was skeptical that it would not stand up to the task of skidding saw logs with my tractor and Farmi skidding winch. It looked very flimsy but to my surprise I am impressed with its performance. Many of the logs were 33 foot in length and up to 18 inches in diameter at the large end. The cone has worked very well and shows little damage. It saved me a lot of works from not having logs get hung up on other trees, stumps and slash. I skidded over 10 MBF of saw logs with it. I have tried it in many situations with my hydraulic winch: pulling big trees going through rugged areas where the trees would have normally get stuck. Because it is used at golf courses it runs mostly at night. I have some acreage on a steep hill with my house on the top of the ridge. I needed to move rocks (20 lbs to 2,000 lbs) up the hill to the house for landscaping. After searching the web this seemed the perfect application for moving those rocks,since I can't get a 4 wheeler or bobcat down there easily. Gentlemen, The PCW5000 along with the host of appurtenances has proven itself over, time after time after time. This thing is for real! Double up, triple up and quadruple up, either way it’s a work horse that is portable enough, yet powerful enough to get the job done. I have nothing negative to say about it because I haven’t found anything negative. To new users, a bug suggestion I could give to you is to practice your knots, practice your alignments, pulley configurations etc.. etc… in an open yard pulling anything just to watch it work and get use to the different configurations. I didn’t do that, so it was in the field that I found out that I needed an additional double pulley for full leverage advantage. I also thought I would not need the cone. WRONG!!!!!
