Lightweight, portable, gas-powered winch, with 2200 lb (1000 kg) pulling capacity. Weighing only 35 lb (16 kg), the Portable Winch^TM is easily carried and can be anchored to anything using the 6' (1.83 m) long sling provided or the hitch plate for vehicles.

Use the Portable Winch^TM with any length of low stretch rope. We offer double-braided polyester rope in lengths of 164' (50 m), 328' (100 m), 492' (150 m) and 656' (200 m). The rope is tied to the object to be moved and wound three times around the capstan drum. When the engine is running, the capstan rotates continuously and the friction created by pulling on the free end of the rope pulls the object. Load will move at a speed from 25 to 40 feet/minute (7.6 to 12 meters/minute), depending on the weight of the load.

The 2200 lb (1000 kg) pulling capacity of the Portable Winch^TM compares with the biggest ATV electric winches but offers more advantages:

The slings fasten the winch or snatch block to a tree, without damaging the bark or cambium of anchor trees. The polyester sling will not stretch. It is very useful for lifting or used as a choker. Safe working load is 6400 lb (2903 kg) when used basket style (i.e. when anchoring the winch), or 4800 lb (2182 kg) in choker style (i.e. when anchoring the corner block).

The hitch plate turns your pick-up truck or ATV into a pulling machine. Simply hook the winch to the plate using the safety hooks and slide the key-hole shape over your ball hitch and you're ready to pull.

This receiver hitch is ideal to attach the winch to your vehicle. Its 2'' (50 mm) square tubing fits perfectly in Category III hitch receivers. Cushioned winch support plate pivots 45 degrees on either side, making the winch stable and self-aligning with the load.

Tree/pole mount with rubber pads, anchor strap 75 mm wide x 3 m long (3'' x 9.8'). This anchor system allows you to firmly attach the winch on a tree or a post which makes it easier for working from one point for extended periods of time. The winch can therefore be installed at a more comfortable height and the pivoting support aligns the winch automatically with the load. To use it, you will need the receiver hitch winch anchor for 50 mm (2'') square tubing (PCA-1262).

This system was designed for vertical pulling. The 50 mm (2'') square tubing fits on the tree/pole mount (PCA-1263). It is designed so the rope goes through the pulley and then right up. It offers a solid support and is ideal for pulling electrical cables through conduits. Used with the tree/pole mount (PCA-1263) sold separately.

The swing-side snatch block features a lightweight 4'' (100 mm) diameter deep groove aluminum sheave, with stainless steel plates that swing open to install rope. Sintered bronze bushing on stainless steel shaft provides 98% efficiency. Particularly useful for use when doubling the line, the rope cannot accidentally come out of the block. Use the steel locking carabiner to anchor to a polyester sling.

For extra heavy loads, you can multiply the winch power using pulleys. This double pulley features the same aluminum and stainless steel construction as our PCA-1274 with two 4'' (100 mm) diameter deep groove aluminum sheave. Using one double pulley (positioned at the load) with a single pulley, you can triple the pulling power of the winch to 7500 lb (3400 kg). With two double pulleys, an amazing 10000 lb of force can be exerted on a load!

A 5/16" (7 mm) opening will grab either 5/16" (7 mm) or 1/4" (6 mm) chain. Equipped with a 1/2" (13 mm) diameter grommet, it can be attached to any 1/2" (13 mm) rope or smaller. Attach the hook to the rope using the bowline knot. The bowline knot provides a secure connection, and can be untied if required.

HPPE ropes have been used in marine and industrial applications for years; we now offer HPPE chokers to replace choker-chains. The corner block lets you change the line pull direction of a log to avoid obstacles or to position it parallel to the trail. The corner block is therefore very useful with the Portable Winch^TM to get some lift on the rope or to double your line (and power). Use it with the pulley facing down for best results.

Makes it easy to attach a polyester rope or a chain-choker to an ATV. Fits over 1 7/8" or 2" (47 mm or 50 mm) ball hitch. Slide the pulling plate over your ball hitch, and fasten your load to it quickly and securely. Attach your rope to the 2" (50 mm) post using the clove hitch, or insert a link of chain into the slotted plate to pull your load. Pulling from the axle level provides the safest pulling point on your ATV. Use the capstan knot to do it.

Fits over 1-7/8" or 2" (47 mm or 50 mm) ball hitch

An ingenious device for releasing the rope from the pulley to allow a log to ‘turn’ into the trail. Depending on the distance the anchor tree is from the trail, you may adjust the automatic release to make the rope slip out of the pulley at the appropriate moment. Simply turn the chain link one-half turn around the rope and insert it into the metal cartridge. Ideal to use with an ATV when you don’t want to stop in the middle of the operation.
